THE JEDI HUNTER

Directed by John E. Hudgens (BACKYARD BLOCKBUSTERS), this STAR WARS spoof of THE CROCKODILE HUNTER stars Boba Fett as Steve Irwin along with his wife, Terri Fett. Together they hunt Jedi

TROOPS

Directed by Kevin Rubio, this is the fan film that started it all. A parody of the TV show COPS, TROOPS is set in the world of Star Wars, but with the Stormtroopers as the stars.

PINK FIVE

Directed by Trey Stokes, this popular short is the first in a trilogy. It features an X-Wing pilot named Stacey who happens to be a hard core Valley Girl. PINK FIVE follows the storyline for STAR WARS EPISODE IV, but from very different points of view.

SOLO FOREVER

Directed by Trey Albright, this comedy centers on a man in the middle of a relationship breakdown who must destroy his Star Wars figures to save the love of his life.

CHAD VADER: DAY SHIFT MANAGER

Created by Aaron Yonda and Matt Sloan, this web series focuses on Chad Vader, the day-shift manager of the Empire Market supermarket and his contentious relationship with customers and co-workers.

AND MANY MORE GREAT FAN FILMS!

“We had such a great response at the 2014 festival when we played the documentary BACKYARD BLOCKBUSTERS,” says Bears Fonté, OWA Founder and Director of Programming. “People kept asking us how they could see these films. But watching them on the laptop is one thing. Up on the big screen, like the originals that inspired them—that's a great excuse to celebrate a fan driven holiday like May the 4th.”

“If you're like me, your parents bought you off with Kenner Star Wars figures,” recalls Fonté. “I loved making up my own stories, non-canon, usually involving renegade biker scouts teaming up with Ewoks to take down the Death Star. These fan films take that creativity to the next level. Advances in technology have allowed some of these films to look as good as the real thing. For years we waited for the next Star Wars film. These filmmakers have made the wait easier, and supplied memorable scenes and characters to the galaxy far, far away.”
