MInd Games. Once a John Lennon song, now a cautionary tale for the world. A breakthrough technology that allows users to share thoughts directly from brain to brain is at the center of writer/director Khalil Sullins' debut feature, LISTENING, starring Thomas Stroppel and Amber Marie Bollinger. The film won the Best Director prize at the 2015 Phoenix Film Festival, where OWA founder Bears Fonte saw it and decided he had to bring it to Austin for its Texas Premiere.
As part of its year ‘round programming, Other Worlds Austin SciFi Film Festival is pleased to announce LISTENING will screen on August 27 (9:00PM) at the Flix Brewhouse in Round Rock. Writer/director Khalil Sullins will be in attendance for this slick SciFi psychological thriller about the the perils of technology, set for theatrical release September 11. Tickets for the Texas Premiere screening are only $10.
LISTENING follows penniless grad students David, Ryan, and Jordan, who work in secret on a telepathy invention that they hope will solve all their problems, until the cutting-edge technology opens a Pandora’s box of new dangers. The team discovers that when they open their minds, there is nowhere to hide their thoughts. Secrets and betrayals surface, and the technology is stolen by a covert government agency with a hidden agenda. With no one left to trust, David is forced against his friends in a life-or-death battle over not only the privacy of the human mind, but the future of free will itself.
