AUSTIN, TX – Other Worlds Austin SciFi Film Festival is proud to announce the next four screenings in its Orbiter Year-Round Series. The films include a North American and three Texas premieres. All films will be screened on the third Wednesday of the month (7:30PM) at Flix Brewhouse.
“I am really excited about our Orbiter Series this year,” says Bears Fonté, OWA Founder and Artistic Director. “Dan Repp and I have put together a program that captures the indie excitement of our festival and spread it across the whole year. These are films that may be coming out before the festival and so it’s great to have an opportunity to bring them to the Other Worlds audience. With TELEIOS and FUTURE ’38 already this year, this is clearly the strongest line-up we’ve ever had.”

Synopsis: A fishing community on a remote Maine island finds itself suddenly cut off from the rest of the world after the ferry stops coming. When people start to vanish, the terrified survivors realize that someone - or something - is hunting them.
“ISLAND ZERO, without a doubt makes use of horror and suspense without pushing too hard in order to force anything too quickly or cheaply. What we are given is something unique, nearly reminiscent in pace and mood to a strong Stephen King novel. With plenty of intense situations, a blood inducing action, Island Zero stands out and rises above mere genre convention. As a plus, the strong cast, grounded writing and a piercing score contribute mightily in boosting the thrills and chills.” - mxdwn.com
"I love the Orbiter Series because we get to focus on one film at a time in an intimate setting,” says Dan Repp, OWA Senior Programmer and Event Director. “We do our best to program films that are thought provoking and inspire conversation within our community. Our goal this year was to make the Orbiter Screenings more convenient by starting them earlier (7:30PM), having them on a consistent date (every third Wednesday of the month), and announcing the schedule as early as we could. So far this year our attendance is up and we've had a ton of great feedback!"
