Happy spring, everyone! Springtime in Texas means bluebonnets, rain, and of course our beloved seasonal allergies. Our favorite streaming services have a great lineup for April - no foolin’! Check it out below and let us know which you watched.
2017 is proving to be yet another domino in a building line of high-caliber annual film fare. Not restricted to budget size or genre classification--high budget and low budget, genre films of all stripes or films that avoid genre classification all together---the last few years have been defined by unrelenting quality that is pushing forward to the present day. With the first seven months officially under our belts, I am going to take a look back at seven of the best SciFi and Horror films from the first half of the year.
This is not the first time I've written about SciFi music videos and it likely won't be the last. There's a wealth of material out there, and honestly it's pretty fun to see what musical acts, particularly big-budget names, come up with to tell their musical stories. We get alter-egos, ambitious storylines, and style to boot. I've compiled a grouping of videos that run the gamut from robots to aliens to scientists. Ch-check it out:
How is everyone enjoying the summer? Here in Austin, we have hit multiple triple-digit days - and in a row, mind you. Of course, we would love to spend more time outside enjoying this wonderful time of year, but some days it is honestly just too hot. Thank goodness for these new SciFi and Horror additions that our favorite streaming services have added this month! Now, if you don’t mind, we are going to find some AC and start on the list below!
BATTLEDREAM CHRONICLE screens at 11:45am on Saturday, December 3. Click here for the full schedule.
With a massive heat wave looming across the country, August is going to be one of the rougher months to endure. Not to mention the fact that, for many, school starts back up again at the end of the month. This means that soon there will be busier schedules and less lazy days. However, Netflix is treating us this month to some great SciFi and Horror to help us take full advantage of these last bits of summer.
The real cornerstone of my youth was TNT’s MonsterVision, hosted by the brilliant Joe Bob Briggs (as portrayed by John Bloom.) He sat in front of a trailer set in a lawn chair and introduced that night's line up of films, which could be anything from an all-night FRIDAY THE 13TH marathon, to a John Carpenter double feature to a George Romero-themed lineup to even classics accepted by the public at large. He added such a sense of fun to watching these films, and obviously took a great sense of pride in hosting this series.
